  • Community Livelihood Garden for Women in Nigeria

Community Livelihood Garden for Women in Nigeria

70% of rural women in Nasarawa and Abuja (Nigeria) live below the poverty line. Over 40% of children from these regions cannot afford school fees due to conflict and poverty.

Collaborative Peace farming initiatives can increase household incomes by up to 60%, according to rural development studies. Interfaith peacebuilding initiatives have proven to reduce conflicts in communities by over 30%, creating safer environments for families. The women will be trained to use farming and entrepreneurship as tools to generate income, support their families, pay children’s school fees, and promote interfaith harmony.

Many survivors struggle to feed their families, trapped in camps with no means to rebuild. The Peace Farming organized by Youths for Peace Building & Development in Africa to equip these women with seeds, tools, and trauma healing; restoring hope and food security. Farming offers a peaceful alternative to conflict-driven survival strategies like begging, sextortion and unsafe migration.

We’re raising $5,200 to establish a 1-hectare community garden that will give women in underserved communities a safe, fertile, and permanent space to grow crops, feed their families, and build financial independence. This garden isn’t just about food — it’s about dignity, empowerment, and sustainability.

Women in this program will receive tools, training, seeds, and continued support from The Outlet team. In a country where access to land is deeply unequal and food insecurity remains a daily challenge, this garden will be a source of life, leadership, and local resilience.

    Why it matters:

🌿 Fresh, local food for families who need it most

đź’Ş Income opportunities for women through marketable crops

🛠️ Training and empowerment of women through farming, peace practice leadership and entrepreneurship training.

❤️ A model that can be replicated in other communities

This initiative builds on YOUPEDA’s proven record of community transformation; like in this recent program supporting young girls and families through vocational training and outreach.

We’ll kick off this project with training for 50 women in sustainable farming and conflict resolution, helping them feed their families and rebuild their communities peacefully.

Will you stand with them? Every $100 empowers one woman to heal, farm, and lead peace.

Donate now. Rebuild lives. Plant peace.

groceries + necessities until roads open in West Bank

I’m raising $250/week to cover groceries, basic hygienic needs, and utilities like electricity and propane for cooking for a family of 7 living in a refugee camp in West Bank. They have been significantly impacted by road closures, lack of job opportunities, and a general lack of safety and freedom since October of 2023. I know this family personally and we are in touch every week. The father of the family has sadly passed away and there is no larger family from which to draw support.

The youngest son and daughter had been able to keep them going on meager paychecks when they were able to travel to Israel and Bethlehem for work, but there is no longer any possibility of passing checkpoints to get to Israel for them, and the job market and general economy in Bethlehem is virtually non-existent. Every effort have been made to secure local jobs, but so far only short-term solutions have been found.

I have personally and with assistance from my family been supporting them, but I cannot do it alone any longer.

Please note: I do not intend to keep this cause going indefinitely.

Neither I nor the family wishes to be in need forever. This is only to get by until employment can be secured so life can go somewhat back to normal for them. We are actively working on this together. If you know of or have any opportunites that could allow them to sustain themselves, please leave a comment and I will follow up with you.

As soon as they are capable of making enough to cover basic needs, I will close out this campaign and issue an update to everyone who has contributed so we can rejoice in their success and our collective success in helping them.
